Installing the upgrade

Using Software Manager (recommended)

The easiest way to install Duck 2 is with our Devious Machines Software Manager.
Download it here: https://deviousmachines.com/downloads

Manual installation

You can also download and run the Duck 2 installer directly from our website.

What happens to Duck 1?

Duck 2 will replace Duck 1 on your system. The plugin name remains “Duck” for consistency, so your existing sessions will open seamlessly.

Need to revert?

Because Duck 2 does not save until you buy a license your Duck 1 session data will not be overwritten by Duck 2. So, if you try the demo and prefer to stay on Duck 1, you can download and reinstall it at any time https://deviousmachines.com/duck-downloads

Will my sessions still work?

Yes, sessions made using Duck 1 will load, with Duck 2 replacing instances of Duck 1 automatically.

Will my sessions sound the same after the upgrade?

Yes. For the vast majority of users patches will sound identical.
We’ve made two subtle refinements that only affect specific edge cases:

Final envelope point timing

In triggered modes, the last envelope point now uses its exact value. Previously, very steep slopes at the end might use a weird intermediate value.

Smoothing parameter

We’ve refined the smoothing behavior. Old patches are converted automatically, but if you’ve automated the smoothing parameter, you might need minor adjustments.

What about the Pro Effects Bundle?

Duck 2 is included in Pro Effects Bundle 2, which gives you all our plugins at a significant discount (up to 49% off).
